	POPERA DUO SAMPLE MP3 ALYS CORDEAUX – soprano Born into a musical family in Aotearoa-New Zealand, soprano Alys Cordeaux began singing lessons at age five with renowned vocal teacher Clifton Cook OBE, who described her ability as “exceptional.” By her early teens, Alys was a seasoned and successful performer with local operatic and professional theatre companies and Canterbury Opera, as well as a winner of vocal competitions and awards. Alys was privileged to study and perform with Dame Malvina Major, one of New Zealand’s best loved and well-known international opera singers, graduating from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Music Honours (First Class) in Vocal Performance in 2004. Alys has been the recipient of several awards and scholarships, including the Dame Malvina Major Foundation High Achiever Award and the Hawke’s Bay Opera “Operatic Aria” Scholarship. Alys has performed a diverse range of solo and ensemble works in various events and venues, including an appearance at “Opera in the Vines,” an annual festival in New Zealand’s major wine-growing region of Marlborough. In Australia, she has concentrated on singing duets with her partner, Jon Marshal, in the successful classical cross-over duo Gli Amorosi. Performances have included regular gigs at one of the Gold Coast’s top resort complexes as well as appearances at charity events and a fund-raising concert for Queensland Cancer Research alongside well-known Australian tenor Romano Dragoni. JONATHAN MARSHALL – tenor Growing up in a small rural community in the deep south of New Zealand, tenor Jonathan Marshall seemed destined to follow in the family footsteps as a farmer. But a chance to learn music at the age of seven beckoned Jon away from the woolshed to the bright lights of the stage and the concert platform. From the age of eight, Jon keenly participated in choirs, musicals and vocal competitions. At 17 he was selected for the prestigious New Zealand Secondary Schools Choir, and had the opportunity of touring in Australia. In 2004, Jon was awarded a Bachelor of Music Honours degree at the University of Canterbury where he was tutored by international opera singers Dame Malvina Major and Vernon Midgley. During this period, Jon performed in various choral and stage productions, including a principal role in The Magic Flute, and a duet with Dame Malvina. Singing duets is now a major part of Jon’s life - with soprano and partner Alys Cordeaux as part of the popera duo Gli Amorosi. Garry Larden [Vocals] began his singing career around Sydney’s inner City wine bars and pubs with a traditional acoustic blues trio before progressing to the electric sounds of Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Jazz and Funk which he performed through out Sydney’s entertainment hot spots from Balmain pubs to the Sydney Opera House, the Enmore Theatre, late night Kings Cross juke joints and inner City clubs. Garry has sung with a wide variety of musicians such as Jazz artists Don Burrows, George Golla, Julian Lee, Bernie Mcgann, Paul Grabowski, Monica and the Moochers, DIG and many more. Garry has also sung with R&B Soul and Funk bands and musicians from bands such as The Fourday Riders, The Hippos, The Bondi Cigars, Jackie Ozarski, The Dynamic Hypnotics, Nancy Kiel, Ross East & Harry Brus with Hot Ice and many more. Over the years Garry has performed live on national television and radio and has been a supporter of charity events including the National Heart Foundation, The Cancer Council, Amnesty International and the World Wild Life Foundation. John Carson [Piano] originally from New Zealand where he worked through out both the North and South Islands with The John Carson Trio for many years playing often six nights per week, John has worked with many great musicians over the years performing extensively at all of New Zealand’s major Jazz Festivals and Jazz Clubs, it was in one of these venues that John played exclusively for Queen Elisabeth on one of her visits to New Zealand. He has performed and toured with singers such as Erna Ferry, Jackie Fitzgerald and many more. Jon’s talent is not restricted to Jazz as his versatility allows him to diversify from Jazz to Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Funk. His song writing abilities are of the highest standard and since arriving in Australia he has been delighting audiences for the past nine years touring extensively. Terence Schindler [Guitar] also originally from New Zealand where he performed through out both the North and South Islands playing a wide variety of musical styles, Terence has an incredible versatility when he performs, he can play an acoustic Flamenco Guitar solo and then strap on the Electric Guitar and perform an adrenalin filled solo of funky fusion or an R&B classic. He has work within a number of bands from grooving Funk, 60’s Soul, Rock, Boogie and Acid Jazz. Since moving to Australia Terence has written and produced eight Solo Flamenco Guitar albums which he has performed from South East Queensland to Sydney . His electrifying rhythms and solo breaks have earned him a reputation amongst many musical circles including bands such as the Acid Jazz outfit DIG with whom he has recorded. He is also respected by Flamenco lovers and through out classical circles. Alex Plavsic [Drums] Originally from Sydney, Alex was drummer and founding member of the Sydney band “Sebastian Hardie” which included his brother Peter on bass, Jon English on vocals and Mario Millo on guitar. When Jon went on to play Judas in Superstar, Sebastian Hardie began playing original music with a clear and unique direction and became the first internationally recognised progressive “Symphonic Rock” band from Australia . Their two albums “Four Moments” and “Windchase” are regarded as classics in their genre and Sebastian Hardie occasionally reform and perform concerts in Japan and the USA . Alex continues to tour extensively throughout Australia and has toured with many acts including Santana, Focus, Ossibisa and Lou Reed and has recorded and performed with many Australian artists including The Delltones, Jon English, and Mark Holden along with various commercial session work. Illy Mahn [Bass Guitarist] with over 20 Years experience in Queensland and New South Wales Venues, Illy has forged a reputation as a funky groove meister driving standards to new levels of listening pleasure. Illy has played in 9 & 10 Piece Funk and Soul outfits "Big Stik" and "Madison Kat", Numerous local Rhythm & Blues Bands - currently "Miz Bully Blues Band", Hot August Night Neil Diamond Show Band, Supported US Swing Band Cherry Poppin Daddies and Thelma Houston. A multi award winning songwriter and arranger Illy is currently compiling an album covering the diversity of his talents coupled with the extraordinary talents of the Divinchis...a force to be reckoned with.
